LIVE SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS:

8am PST/11am EST Christian comedian  Michael Jr. Interview: Faith and Humor
Join JoJo Tabares for our Say What You Mean Convention Kick-Off as she interviews Christian Comedian Michael Jr. about faith and humor.  Come hear this amazingly talented comedian who refreshingly states “If I’m in a club, my material has to be clean enough to work in a church.  If I’m in a pulpit, it has to be funny enough to work in a club.”  We will be playing some clips from his comedy including Over Saved which is one of his most popular routines as he shares the role of humor in sharing our faith.

10am PST/1pm EST JoJo Tabares from Art of Eloquence: “The Three Flavors of Communication: Writing, Speech, and  Conversation”
When you think of communication, what comes to mind?  For most people it’s standing up in front of a crowd, knees knocking and palms sweating.  However, communication actually comes in three flavors: chocolate (writing), strawberry (speech) and vanilla (conversation).  The most costly mistake we make is thinking that we only need one of the three in our “real lives.”  In reality, formal writing isn’t just for novelists, formal speech isn’t just for lawyers and politicians, and conversation isn’t something we master by talking every day.  Join JoJo Tabares as she shares the NEW-apolitan approach to communication.  JoJo will share how formal writing is something we use every day in school and our careers, formal speech can prepare us for things like sharing our faith and that mastery of conversation is what enriches our relationships!  You can’t afford to miss this live seminar!

12pm PST/3pm EST Talk-A-Latte’s Cindy Rushton: “Building a Passionate, Forever, Happier and Happier-Ever-After Marriage”
When you got married, what did you want? What did you think it would be like? Now…what do you want? Do you want a passionate marriage—one that is on fire? Do you want a marriage for keeps? Do you want more than a mediocre marriage—want that happier and happier-ever-after marriage? Join Cindy Rushton as she takes us through some keys to building a passionate, forever, happier and happier-ever-after marriage. (Hint! Cindy will be digging into COMMUNICATION in this session). In this workshop, Cindy will share three key areas that will make a difference in every marriage. Don’t miss this workshop!

2pm PST/5pm EST Joan Rudder Ward from Girl Nurture: “The Heat is On – Techniques To Protect You and Your Daughter from Becoming Culture War Casualties.”
There’s a culture war raging and the fight is on for the hearts and souls of our youth.  In this session we’ll be talking about the specific tactics against our daughters, and techniques moms can use to address those tactics, and create closer bonds with their girls. Parenting has always taken courage, and even more so today as parents, seeking to raise children with godly principles, are more and more facing challenges created by a strong and amoral culture.

4pm PST/7pm EST Kim Kautzer from WriteShop: “Writing Skills: More Important than Ever!”
For better or worse, your child’s writing skills can influence his future in college and beyond. Because of poor skills, many students must take remedial writing courses in college–if they get admitted at all. And in the workplace, employers are not only passing over applicants with below-average writing skills, they consider writing ability a key factor when offering promotions. As a homeschooling parent, you can prepare your child for college and the work force by teaching fundamental writing skills now, while there’s still time. Join Kim Kautzer for an encouraging seminar as she offers tips and suggestions to help you inspire successful writers!

6pm PST/9pm EST Prayer Chat
Come join us for an hour of prayer as we chat about faith and pray for our nation, our loved ones, our relationships and the missions the Lord has for each of our lives.  This is the most precious time of the convention where we take YOUR prayer requests and ask the Lord to help us use our new found communication skills for His Glory!  (Prayer chat will NOT be recorded)

The Lazy Student: What’s a Mom to Do?
Your child puts off writing assignments—sometimes indefinitely—and it’s driving you crazy! Is it procrastination . . . or laziness? Either way, these two culprits can cause all sorts of problems for your child. Kim Kautzer will help you discover the similarities and differences, and teach you how to help your dawdler set—and meet—writing goals and deadlines.

What Most Apologetics Courses Don’t Teach You
As JoJo Tabares often says, “God didn’t make cookie-cutter people, so there is no one-size-fits-all way to share your faith.” This audio delves into the most effective and comfortable way to share your faith.  Each person is an individual and sees the world and God differently.  Unfortunately most apologetics courses teach you to open with a particular question or scripture or to hand out a particular tract.  What is needed for sharing the faith effectively is more communication skill.

The Law of Kindness
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”
Wherever did this foolish saying come from? A broken limb can heal and be fine, but a wound from wrong words can last a lifetime. Proverbs 31:26 describes a godly woman as one who uses her words wisely: “She opens her mouth in skillful and godly wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness [giving counsel and instruction]” (Amplified Version). Join Joan Rudder Ward as she addresses ways mothers can use their words to heal and build better relationships with their children.
